Production programme

Remanufacturing and production of toner cartridges for Brother colour and monochrome laser printers.

The production programme of the BROTHER INDUSTRIES (SLOVAKIA) plant in Krupina consists of remanufacturing and producing new toner cartridges in a ratio of 93% to 7%, for Brother colour and monochrome laser printers. We make new cartridges in small numbers, mainly to keep our operators’ skills.

Our priority is remanufacturing used toner cartridges. The process starts on the sorting line, where every cartridge is carefully checked – more than 1.7 million cartridges pass through it each year. A cartridge is checked against a database and then visually. It then goes through the whole production process, in which individual parts are replaced and cleaned and, where necessary, repaired. Finally the cartridge is filled with new toner. A damaged cartridge that cannot be remanufactured is turned into granulate, from which a new cartridge is later made by our sister company in the United Kingdom.

The plant has 9 production lines that can process 49 different toner cartridge models.

Efficiency matters to us, so we keep improving our processes and produce without waste and downtime, which only add cost without adding value. Thanks to advanced technology we can process every toner cartridge we receive – and, importantly, without creating further waste.
